How to Register on MyFloridaMarketPlace: Guide (2026)

October 16, 20268 min readConstructionBids.ai Team

Summary

To register on MyFloridaMarketPlace (MFMP), open the Vendor Information Portal at vendor.myfloridamarketplace.com, choose to register as a new vendor, enter your tax ID type and number, then complete the Main Contact, Company Information, Commodity Codes, and Florida Terms of Use sections, confirming the main contact's email with a 10-digit code. Then submit a Florida Substitute Form W-9 to the Department of Financial Services so agencies can pay you. Verify current steps on the official portal.

What MyFloridaMarketPlace is

MyFloridaMarketPlace (MFMP) is the State of Florida's eProcurement system. Rule 60A-1.031, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.), states that the State, through the Department of Management Services (DMS), instituted MFMP as a statewide eProcurement system under section 287.057(24), Florida Statutes (F.S.). The MFMP Vendor Information Portal (VIP) describes itself as a self-service portal where vendors can register, receive electronic purchase order information, and receive information on upcoming bids.

Registration is the entry ticket. DMS's Rule 60A-1.033, F.A.C., says that to qualify to provide commodities and contractual services to the State of Florida, a vendor must register with MFMP and accept the MFMP Terms of Use, and that agencies enter those agreements only with registered vendors, apart from narrow exceptions such as State Purchasing Card and Fuel Card transactions. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) FAQ puts it plainly: all companies that wish to do business with the State of Florida must register with MyFloridaMarketPlace.

Construction firms should know one boundary. MFMP's rules are written around commodities and contractual services under Chapter 287, F.S., and FDOT states that construction and professional services do not fall under contractual services. FDOT advertises road and bridge construction through its own Contracts Administration offices and requires prime contractors bidding construction jobs over $250,000 to be prequalified under Rule Chapter 14-22, F.A.C. Section 255.0525, F.S., also requires solicitations for state construction projects projected to cost more than $200,000 to be advertised in the Florida Administrative Register. MFMP registration is the baseline, not the only place Florida public construction work appears. For a wider map of sources, see our guide to finding government construction bids.

Step 1 - Gather your company and tax information

Before you open the portal, collect the company, tax, contact, location, and commodity information that Rule 60A-1.033 lists as required for registration. The rule names company name, tax ID type and number, username, password, contact information, 1099 name, business designation, primary place of business, woman-, minority-, or veteran-owned business status, at least one business location, commodity codes (or confirmation that you will not choose any), and a solicitation notification preference.

The VIP offers three tax ID types: Federal Tax, Social Security Number, and Fictitious Number. The portal strongly recommends a Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) rather than a Social Security number, to minimize the risk to personal financial information, and notes that there is no cost to obtain a FEIN from the IRS.

Have your 1099 name ready exactly as the IRS knows it. The VIP states that this name must match the name to which your FEIN or SSN was issued, and must also match the name on file with the Department of Financial Services (DFS) for direct deposit, if one exists.

Step 2 - Start a new vendor registration in the VIP

Go to the Vendor Information Portal at vendor.myfloridamarketplace.com and choose the option to register as a new vendor. The Register as a Vendor screen asks for the tax ID type, company name, and tax ID number, which you enter twice to confirm.

The VIP then walks you through four sections: Main Contact, Company Information, Commodity Codes, and Florida Terms of Use. The portal states that you may continue a registration later by logging in with the main contact's username and password. Type the portal address yourself rather than following a link from an unexpected email, and if a screen label or step order differs from this guide, treat the official portal as the source of truth.

Step 3 - Enter the Main Contact

Enter the person responsible for completing the registration as the Main Contact. The VIP states that the Main Contact will be contacted with any questions about your registration, so choose someone in estimating, contracts, or accounting who checks email daily.

The portal states that usernames must be 6 to 12 characters, cannot contain spaces or special characters, and are case sensitive, and that after registration a username can only be changed by calling the MFMP Help Desk. When registration is complete, each contact receives an email with login instructions and a temporary password. Rule 60A-1.033 also makes every registered vendor responsible for keeping a current email address of record in MFMP.

Step 4 - Complete Company Information, contacts, and locations

Complete the Company Information section, which covers your business profile, any certification interest, your contacts, and your locations. The Business Profile asks for the company name, the 1099 name, whether your company can fill an order of $100,000 or more, one business designation such as corporation, partnership, or sole proprietorship, the date and state of incorporation, and your primary place of business. The VIP notes that the 1099 name cannot be changed but can be contested through the MFMP Help Desk. Rule 60A-1.033 says DMS screens vendors reporting that $100,000 capacity at least once every five years against federal trade sanction and embargo lists.

The section also asks whether you are seeking woman-, veteran-, or minority-owned business certification from the Office of Supplier Development (OSD), which the VIP describes as the Division of State Purchasing team that processes Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) certifications. The portal notes that OSD certification requires an active vendor registration.

Then add your contacts and at least one location. For each location, the VIP asks for purchase order information, a remit-to address, and a billing contact. The portal states that purchase orders for a location are emailed to the contact listed and that state payments are remitted to the address listed, so decide in advance which office receives orders and where payments should go.

Step 5 - Choose UNSPSC commodity codes and notifications

Select the commodity codes that describe your construction work and opt in to electronic solicitation notifications. Rule 60A-1.033 requires vendors and agencies to use the United Nations Standard Products and Services Code (UNSPSC). The VIP states that MFMP requires codes at the Class or Commodity level and recommends the Commodity level, because it lets agency customers associate your business with a specific product or service.

You can browse segment, family, class, and commodity codes, or search by number or description. Choose codes for the building, site, or specialty trade work your company actually bids. Too few codes mean missed notices, while codes for work you never bid create noise.

The same screen asks whether you want electronic solicitation notifications and which contacts should receive them. The portal warns that skipping commodity codes makes you ineligible to receive automatic, electronic solicitation notifications.

Step 6 - Confirm the email and accept the Florida Terms of Use

Confirm the Main Contact's email address with the 10-digit code the VIP sends, then accept the Florida Terms of Use. If the address is wrong, the portal says to correct it on the Main Contact page and use the Resend Email button.

Rule 60A-1.033 requires vendors to accept the MFMP Terms of Use by clicking the accept button in the system. The VIP states that your data is saved if you wait, but that by not accepting the Terms of Use, your company is not registered with the State of Florida. Accept them and keep a record of the date.

Step 7 - Submit a Florida Substitute Form W-9 to DFS

Submit a Florida Substitute Form W-9 through the Department of Financial Services so agencies can issue purchase orders and pay you. DFS states that a completed Substitute Form W-9 is required from any entity that receives a payment from the State of Florida, and directs vendors to its Substitute Form W-9 Verification website at flvendor.myfloridacfo.com.

This step is separate from MFMP but tied to it: DFS states that agencies will be unable to create an encumbered MFMP purchase order to a vendor without a verified W-9. DFS lists its Vendor Management Section at (850) 413-5519 and FLW9@myfloridacfo.com for W-9 questions.

The MFMP transaction fee: what it covers

Registration and the transaction fee are different things. Rule 60A-1.031, F.A.C., sets the MyFloridaMarketPlace Transaction Fee at one percent (1.0%), or as may otherwise be established by law. It is assessed on payments issued by agencies to registered vendors for purchases of commodities or contractual services under Chapter 287, F.S., unless exempt, and on payments associated with an Enterprise Wide Agreement. Vendors pay it. It is a charge on state payments, not a registration fee.

The rule excludes purchases paid with the State's Purchasing Card or Fuel Card and purchases under section 287.055, F.S., and lists exemptions that include certain non-profit transactions, sole-provider transactions required by law, state or federal program and grant agreements, emergency transactions, and insurance purchases. Agencies must include an MFMP Transaction Fee statement in contracts and solicitations where the fee applies, so look for that statement and account for it in your pricing. Vendors not on an Enterprise Wide Agreement reconcile a monthly consolidated billing invoice in the VIP, and the VIP states that self-reports and fee payments are due within 15 calendar days after the reporting period.

How to find and submit a bid on MyFloridaMarketPlace

Use the Search Advertisements page at vendor.myfloridamarketplace.com/search/bids. The VIP describes it as Florida's official online repository for all state advertisements for competitive procurements from state agencies, as well as some universities, state colleges, water management districts, and other local municipalities. You can filter by ad type, ad status, organization, commodity codes, and date range. Ad types listed in the portal include Invitation to Bid, Request for Proposals, Invitation to Negotiate, Request for Statement of Qualifications, Request for Information, and Single Source.

Open an advertisement to see its downloadable files and agency contact. The VIP states that the agency advertisement owner is the point of contact for questions on a specific advertisement. Advertisements can also carry standard language that bars respondents from contacting agency employees between the solicitation's release and 72 hours after the notice of intended award, except in writing to the procurement officer, so route every question exactly as the solicitation says.

How you respond depends on the solicitation. The Florida Lottery describes an eQuote as an electronic informal competitive quote transmitted through the MyFloridaMarketPlace Sourcing application. Formal solicitations set their own format, delivery method, and deadline in the documents. In guidance for its Petroleum Restoration Program, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection warns that eQuote and formal bid responses must be complete, with all appropriate attachments, or they will not be considered responsive.

Register to receive addenda for every project you pursue: section 255.0525, F.S., says that if a construction bid opening's location, date, or time changes, written notice goes to everyone registered to receive addenda. Frequently Asked Questions

The official pages reviewed for this guide describe no charge to register. The MFMP transaction fee, set by Rule 60A-1.031, F.A.C., at one percent (1.0%) or as otherwise established by law, applies to qualifying state payments to registered vendors, not to registering. Verify current details on the official portal.

Yes, if the state will pay you. The Department of Financial Services states that a completed Substitute Form W-9 is required from any entity that receives a payment from the State of Florida, and that agencies cannot create an encumbered MFMP purchase order to a vendor without a verified W-9.

Rule 60A-1.031 applies the fee to payments for commodities or contractual services under Chapter 287, F.S., and excludes purchases under section 287.055, F.S. Agencies must include an MFMP Transaction Fee statement where the fee applies, so check each solicitation and contract for it.
