Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to find and bid public work on ConstructionBids.ai, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or other assistive technology. Our target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
Our standard
We design and check our pages against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
What we do
- We use real headings, landmarks and labels, so screen readers can move through a page.
- We build controls to work from the keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
- We test pages with automated accessibility checks and by keyboard, starting with the homepage.
- Animation follows your device's reduced-motion setting. The product tour video has no sound and can be paused at any time.
The Accessibility panel
The round accessibility button in the bottom-left corner of the screen opens a panel that adjusts the site for you. Your choices are saved in this browser.
- Font Size: larger or smaller text.
- High Contrast: stronger contrast between text and background.
- Dyslexia Font: a more readable typeface with extra letter and line spacing.
- Highlight Links: marks every link so it stands out.
- Reduce Motion: stops animation and pauses the product tour video.
- Reading Guide: a band that follows your pointer to help you keep your place.
The panel works alongside your browser's zoom and your device's accessibility settings; it doesn't replace them.
Known limitations
- Bid documents, plans and specifications come from the agencies that publish them. We link to the originals, and some of them (scanned PDFs especially) may not be accessible. Ask the issuing agency for another format, or email us and we'll try to help.
- On pages other than the homepage, the orange navigation button and logo accent don't yet meet the AA contrast target.
- Some older pages and parts of the signed-in app may not meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA yet.
Report a barrier
If something is hard to use with your setup, email support@constructionbids.ai with the page address and what happened, and we'll look into it.
